Mujeeb Jaihoon

In the light of Sura Al Noor

A few years back, when mind was not as much ripe, I had a chance to get hold of Imam Gazzali’s work, Mishkat Al Anwar. It was too ‘heretical’ for me then to accept the deeply mystical ideas expounded in it. And years after… attending a Tafsir gathering, I realized new meanings for the 1400 years plus revealed verses.

A New Gospel of Economics

Jaihoon @ Sayyid Shihab Commemorative Seminar

When the ‘Monetary Reformer from UK’ was invited to speak about the ‘Economic Aspect of Interest’ not everyone in the college, including the writer, anticipated such a tremendous response from the student audience. His speech, although coined in state-of-the-art economics jargon, enlightened many in the audience even those from a non-BBA discipline. It had the flavor of a ‘definitive economist’ preaching the gospel of Economics with a reformative endeavor. All through the speech, he tried to clear the widely believed notion that ‘Bank without interest is no bank at all’.

Training the present for taming the future

The tireless presentations at top of the voice for hours and hours, are just the work of the body. Its roots lie elsewhere. It is pure dedication, without having any leisure vacation. And this comes from the heart. As a management guru said, logic makes you think, emotion makes you act.

History for common sense

Dr. Randathani said it was essential for historians to present the bygone past in a language understood by the common man. He also expressed his discontent about the partisan outlook of Kerala Muslims and called upon them to have a unified stand on important matters.
