Prayer for an Atheist

A believer’s poetic prayer for an atheist, navigating through the depths of faith, empathy, and spiritual yearning.

You are baffled,
At what I believe.
I am shocked,
By your mindless lie.

My faith:
For you, a mystery.
Your denial:
As old as history.

You worship your intellect;
I rely on my faithful heart.

Your greatest enemy:
God.
My true friend,
None but the Lord.

Your journey ends here;
Mine, a mere stop here.

Your road: less than ten decades;
Mine: infinite in number of days.

Hell and heaven
Are for you, naught.
All my actions,
By its strings caught.

All books:
For you alike.
His Book:
For me, none like.

You, for me:
An intellectual tragedy.
And I, for you:
An emotional comedy.

I know you wish
For my heart—
I see the same.
What you see-not.

Hey, my friend.

We both live
Under His Sun.
Although Him,
I love; you shun.

I pray you see,
Realize the beauty—
Of the One Deity:
The Mighty.

  2. This is really good…I especially like the line ‘you are for me an intellectual tragedy and I to you an emotional comedy’…that about sums it up! As Rumi would say, there are lots of donkeys carrying books….
