The Love-Plaint

A lover yearns for more time with their beloved, questioning the fleeting nature of their connection, in this poem by Mujeeb Jaihoon.

Every day she makes
A honey-like claim
‘About you,
I think all the time’.

But as I pass
Through moments silent
On my lips arises
The heart’s plaint:

‘Is it not possible
For some time more
To spend for the one
You utterly adore?’
