Love: Beauty’s Mirror

Beauty lies neither in the object nor in the onlooker. Nay, it rests in the love-image that appears in the eyes – poetizes Mujeeb Jaihoon

I took her by the hand,
As we stood by the bank.

Night hid in her locks,
Wind swung on her curls.

I showed her
The magical Moon,
Cherishing its face
In the lyrical River.

She exclaimed
In marvel
To the world-other
Did she ravel.

Said I,

‘The beauty of this scene serene
Is from your eyes’ orchard-glean.

The Moon and River
Will be pretty times thousand,
When appear
In your eyes, beauty-transcend.’

Beauty lies neither in the object
Nor in the onlooker.
Nay, it rests in the ‘love-image’
Appears which in the eyes.
