Mujeeb Jaihoon

How shall I Greet ?

Mujeeb Jaihoon is in two minds whether to approach the Beloved Meem robed as a royal or ragged as a beggar, in these verses written at Medina.

Shall I roll on the ground
Or stroll barefooted?

Blush like a bride
Or run like a madman?

Creep like a snail
Or race like a flash?

Refined as a saint
Or guilty as a sinner?

Sober as a sage
Or playful as a child?

Robed as a royal
Or ragged as a beggar?

Restrain my heart—
Let it flow as a river?

Or liberate my passion—
Let it erupt as a volcano?

O, the Most Loving,
The All-Knowing!

How shall I greet
Your Beloved great,
In his city bright,
Where love is alight?

  1. Very few are actually blessed to keep the intellectual flame & passion burning within them, Sir. But to let that creative stream flow is an arduous task. And yours MashaAllah, is a spiritual stream. What can be more beautiful than that!! And who can be more fortunate than us readers to treat our eyes to the flowing rivers of Allah’s & his Rasool’s praises. Your words are illuminated by your divinity, Sir. The complete submission to Almighty & his grace, his sublime creations & his soft yet powerful presence, love & magnanimity are all for us to embrace.
