A Regretful Desire

Whispers of unmet desires and despair dance in these mystic verses by Mujeeb Jaihoon.

Did I ask for a dream,
In your eyes, didn’t gleam?
Did I hope for a flower,
You un-destined to bloom?

I am not sad, though,
For what you didn’t bestow.
Rather, I am disheartened,
I desired what you disliked.

Ya Wahhab! Ya Razzaq! Ya Fattah!
Let me not even crave, forget have;
The gift you never wished to give
