Mujeeb Jaihoon

The Borrowed Light

Jaihoon’s poetic commentary on the tragic transformation of leadership mirroring the cyclical nature of power and servitude in history.

Former kings, latter knaves;
Past princes, present puppets;
Then victors, now vassals—
Since sovereign, hence subject;
Medieval power, modern project;
Yesterday’s Promises,
Today’s Compromises.

You race to imitate,
You rejoice in servitude.
Slavery—your trump card;
Serfdom—your triumph-yard.

Your mind, mantra—
nor the melody—yours;
Even your shadows bow,
to Others’ glow.
