The book talk on “The Maestro of Mercy” at SIBF 2025 showcased Shaykh alShadhili’s Malabar Sufi saint’s life of mercy and universal love for a global audience.

The book talk by Mujeeb Jaihoon at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 on November 14th 2025 celebrated the life and enduring influence of Shaykh Muhyiddeen al-Shadhili (also known as Athippatta Moideen Kutty Musliyar), a revered Sufi saint from Malabar (Kerala, India).

“The Maestro of Mercy” is an anthology of anecdotes and inspiring stories based on the life of Shaykh Muhyiddeen al-Shadhili.

Published by Book Plus, it is notably the first book written in English about the Shaykh, making his teachings accessible to a global audience for the first time.

Shaykh alShadhili’s life was defined by boundless compassion, spiritual discipline, and service to humanity. His teachings championed a message of mercy and universal love, promoting a path to inner peace.

Jaihoon, an acclaimed Indian author known for exploring themes of universal love and spiritual worldviews, is a devoted disciple who meticulously captured the saint’s remarkable life.

Hosted by Musawwir Jaihoon, the book talk emphasized how the saint’s wisdom resonates with contemporary concerns. The book’s popularity suggests a growing interest among the new generation in mystic literature, seeking guidance and meaning in an era of digital noise.

Interestingly, The book was earlier launched in Sharjah as part of the Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations (a Hindu philosopher and social reformer), highlighting the historic parallels and shared values between different spiritual traditions in championing compassion and democratic spirituality.
