Wasim Samara, UN WFP, holding the book, Slogans of the Sage

October 09 2018, Sharjah: Slogans of the Sage— the illustrated coffee table book of aphorisms by Sayyid Muhammad Ali Shihab Thangal— was presented to the office of UN World Food Programme’s UAE Regional Aviation Safety Office located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Wasim Samara, who received the book from author Mujeeb Jaihoon, shared his ‘goosebump’ enthusiasm for the late Indian statesman’s profound quotations on philanthropic initiatives. He especially loved the quotations– Wiping the tears of the oppressed is the greatest virtue in life and Stand with the oppressed. Be a shelter for the orphans.

During the brief conversation, Mr. Samara promised to incorporate some of Sayyid Shihab’s quotations in his speech at the Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference & Exhibition scheduled to be held in Sharm Al Sheikh, Egypt, on October 23 2018. It is also noteworthy that Sayyid Shihab Thangal had spent several years of his youth in Egypt, during his studies at the Al Azhar University, one of the oldest and renowned institution of the Islamic world.

Launched at Sharjah International Book fair 2017, Jaihoon’s coffee table book with aesthetically illustrated quotations has been warmly received earlier by several world leaders including His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Tolerance, Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Indian Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi, president of Indian National Congress, and other eminent academicians, interfaith activists and leading educational institutions.
