With the presence of the beloved, the lover turns to a madman while he feels as if death resides beside him, writes Mujeeb Jaihoon

My heart without you
In pain beats
With no joy

Confused what to write
Wandering as a lost kite

Even dreams look bad
Sleep seldom comes

Suffocated with solitude
Despised with own self

Love seems so unreal
Unable to feel

Feel so scared
Even to cry

Shun the flowers
Miserable at your absence

No longer enjoy
The joys of life

Lines broken
Words incomplete

O love-cheeked one!

My own shadow
Seems strange
To me your presence
Alone was true friend

My heart without you
Sobs, tearless
Every nerve in me
Complains, annoys

Drugged with your love
Intoxicated with passion
Without you beside
Death with me resides

Time at me fun pokes
Solitude stone throws
Without you beside
A madman am I let loose

O love-cheeked one!
Joyless,
Lifeless,
Without you:
I am less.
