Mujeeb Jaihoon’s ‘Mothers and Martyrs’ represents a bold departure from his conventional mystical and enchanting language, embracing instead a searing critique of the corrupt and privileged forces that perpetuate ‘infinite injustice’ in our world. Known for his lyrical verses, Jaihoon adeptly reveals the injustices perpetrated by the powerful elite while unreservedly celebrating the enduring strength of maternal love and women’s resilience. He lays bare the ruinous consequences of unbridled greed and imperialism, delivering a damning rebuke to those who exploit power at the expense of the marginalized and the very planet we inhabit. Through this collection, the evocative poet implores readers to stand alongside him in the struggle for a fairer and more compassionate world, where justice and empathy reign supreme.

When we hear the word ‘Mother’, the first thing that crosses our mind is sacrifice & love. Sacrifice of health, comfort & sleep for those precious nine months when she carries the baby in her womb. Her love is selfless. And indeed, only a creation of Allah of that stature, can proudly be a martyr.
First & foremost, commendable book cover design. Extremely thoughtful & creative. The agony, tribulations & adversities that women have to go through in circumstances of losing loved ones, where happiness seems like a mirage, is excrutiatingly painful. It’s a wound no medicine can heal.
“Our hearts had dreams, and homes had sweets”, I can relate so much to this. There were a few verses, where I couldn’t stop my tears.
Women are definitely the most noble creation of Allah. Filled with strength yet the most fragile. Really appreciate the way you’ve interwoven the most sensitive topics with the plight of women around the world.
