The Patriot — is an epic song performed by Sameer Binsi, prominent Sufi Qawwali singer of Kerala. Conceived and directed by writer and activist Mujeeb Jaihoon, this song is based on the life and struggle of Umar Qazi— the saint, poet and freedom fighter who lived in 18th-century Malabar, Kerala. Inspired by Mujeeb Jaihoon’s novel, Hindinte Ithihaasam, the melodious lyrics of Mansoor Kilinakod dwells on the poetic and patriotic life of Umar Qazi, widely acclaimed as the forerunner of the Non taxation movement in Indian freedom struggle. Binsi’s soulful voice is blessed by the vibrant beats of Mohammed Akbar, inspiring new heights with chorus vocals by Imam Majboor and Mithulesh. Visualized in motion graphics, the music video contains illustrations by Shaf Beypore, Dubai-based artist actively involved as creative artist in advertising and tv productions. Mujeeb Jaihoon Producer Mujeeb Jaihoon is an Indian-born author and community activist based in UAE. He has authored nine books including Slogans of the Sage and The Cool Breeze From Hind. Some of his writings have been translated into Italian, Arabic & Malayalam Sameer Binsi Vocal A trained Hindustani vocalist, Sameer Binsi started reciting the hagiographical songs of Arabic-Malayalam from his grandmother. Later, Binsi received formal training in classical Hindustani music from Ustad Shaikh Parvez in Aligarh. Binsi has invested a considerable amount of time to learn and unearth the tradition of esoteric music and literature in the Sufi traditions of Malabar. Lately, he is collaborating with Baul singer, Shanthi, to bring out a Malayalam- Persian Album; Rumi and Shams - Bridging the soul. Another work with Imam Majboor to be published is a multi-lingual album called Alif the Infinite. His soulful voice has been used in the Malayalam films, Valiya Perunnal and Malik. Imam Majboor Vocal Imam Majboor comes from a respected family of musicians and singers in Malappuram. His family has played a pivotal role in popularising Hindustani music in Malappuram area. Although the youngest of his siblings, Majboor stands tall among them with his haunting voice and versatility. He has also sung tracks for Malayalam films like Sudani From Nigeria and Valiya Perunnal. Mithulesh Vocal Well-experienced singer and student of Pandit Vijay Sursen. Mohamed Akbar Music director One of the leading tabla players in Kerala, Mohamed Akbar is a musician par excellence and a student of leading Hindustani musician Vincent master. Shaf Beypore Artist Shaf Beypore, as the second part of the name suggests, hails from Beypore, a place immortalized by the legendary Malayalam writer Vaikom Mohammed Basheer- the Sultan of Beypore. After graduating from Calicut School of Fine Arts in 1998, he has been active as a creative artist in advertising and art director in television films and serials. He has worked in the advertising industry in both India and UAE. He has participated in a number of exhibitions and specializes in abstract paintings.
