A powerful dream of farewell and faith prompts reflection on the mysterious ways of the divine.

Talking with my Him-Loving friend,
I listened to a marvelous comment:

“I saw a dream last night
I know not its deep secret

I lay on a hospital bed
As the relatives sat near my head.
Everyone cried:
Their eyes red

The physician let out a sigh,
“Soon, you will bid goodbye.”

After a while, you walked on in,
Across the room, to your friend akin.

Sick and frail, I felt so weak:
Yet you felt the ache

In pain I cried:
Your eyes soaked.

And then, I told you
With a smile:

Why cry? You know
I belong to Him.
I live, I die:
He is my Merciful Him.
Be bold and brave:
For my life don’t crave.”

Ah! When I heard
About this dreadful dream,
With pain and wonder,
I silently screamed.

Subhanallah! I was shocked
To tearfully learn
That the same vision
Had I seen.

O ‘Merciful Him’
Of my indifferent friend!
What message
Do these dreams send?
