Describes ebooks as Gift of God

November 19 2012: Sharjah-based poet Mujeeb Jaihoon described the emerging passion for e-books as ‘a gift of God’ to preserve the ever diminishing number of trees on earth. He was speaking at a workshop, “Apps and Authors – A Marriage of Possibilities.” at the recently concluded Sharjah International Book Fair 2012.

He called for writers and publishers to minimize the printing of books to only which were inevitable and instead promote electronic medium in order to conserve the green planet. He ascribed the popularity of smartphones and tablets reading fashion to the 3Cs- Cost, Convenience and Control.

He assured the users of iJaihoon (his literary app) would be the first to have access to his forthcoming poetry collection, “Meem is for Mercy”, expected to be launched early next year.

“I hope that this collection of poems dedicated to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), with its explosion of mystical imagery, would help to avert the increasing martyrdom of trees”, added Jaihoon as he unveiled the cover design of the book.
