Believers prefer the prison of Almighty’s fear to the freedom of their desires while wishing Him to be their thirst & hunger— writes Jaihoon
I feel safer,
In the prison,
Of Your fear.
Scared but
From the freedom,
Of my own desire.
Restrain me,
With your Love.
Oppress me,
With your Mercy.
Set me not free,
To alone perish.
Let not,
Intellect fool me.
O ‘my Merciful HIM’,
Be my thirst and hunger,
Unquenched and Unfed,
I be forever in Your want.
May Your love,
Be my disease,
And Your longing,
The symptom.
Forever or more,
May I sick remain?
And never a cure,
I may attain.
I have sins many,
Beyond my count,
Your infinite Mercy but,
Stops me from despair.

MashaAllah!! Such a beautiful irony, “Restrain me with your love, oppress me with your mercy”, this is actually the faith deeply ingrained in a believer’s heart. The divine favours which everybody longs for, are an accolade for the most bona fide believers. Tests and trials are transient but worship and belief are perpetual. Honestly, this is what lets me wake up each morning.
