The Love-Tax

The Holy Prophet’s praise is the essential tariff, crucial to our existence and purpose—asserts Mujeeb Jaihoon in this poetic tribute.

Coal to power my soul’s steam,
Oil to drive my heart’s engine,
Spark to light my intellect’s flame,
Gold to reap my harvest of gain.

Joy celebrates him,
Virtue cherishes him;
Beauty and Love bow in debt—
To Meem, all hearts beget.

O Meem,
The essence of my existence!
I aspire as Allama,
I melt as Maulana;
Your praise is the tax
For my life-merchandise.

Your love tunes
My throbbing pulse;
Your thought drenches
My dry veins.

I remain human
Thanks to your love;
I am alive
Courtesy of your love.
