So Dad, Shall We Love Him more than Allah?

These car confessions may be the secret recipe for rehumanizing a generation grappling with the infinite curse of the satanic

She turned her head away from the window, and out of the blue, the simple, honest question: “So Dad, shall we love him more than Allah?”

I almost had to pull over. That’s the kind of question that makes you a better Muslim and a better parent. I smiled, steering into traffic, and took a deep breath.

I looked at her and said, “Hmm. That wouldn’t be wrong. Is it?”

She looked confused, so I quickly explained the logic, right there in the car.

“Everyone wants others to love their dear ones,” I told her. “And the Prophet is the Beloved of Allah. So there is every reason for Allah to love us more, even if we love His Beloved more than Him. Our love for the Prophet is the truest gift we can offer back to Allah.”

She just nodded, took another bite of her cookie, and chuckled.

These unplanned moments, these car confessions, may be the secret recipe for implanting the seeds of rehumanizing a generation grappling with the infinite curse of the satanic screens. Alhamdulillah for her little heart and big questions. ❤️
