Lovers yearn to sleep in the desire-cave of the Beloved, like the Youths and the Dog of al-Kahf, says Jami in a spiritual dream of the poet.
Jami, the Meem-jeweled
Gem of Khorasan
Whispered to me
In a dream:
‘Life outside the Rawdha
Is like hell for the lovers
Their hearts will find ease
Swing when in the Meem-breeze
Their souls shall enjoy peace
Swim when in the Meem-stream
Meem is their Desire-cave
As they sleep deep
Like the Youths and the Dog
And for Meem’s dream they crave
Appear he if
In their vision
Assured shall be
Their Paradise-mansion”
