A lovelorn plea wrestles with mortality questioning if love’s embrace can extend beyond the veil of death.

Hey the gift of God!
Who shouted aloud
The word of love
In my silent world

Hey the cool breeze
Who moved the dark clouds
Away from my sun
And brought colors

To love you not in return
Would amount to sin

I would have loved you most…

If in love there were no tears
And to lose it I had no fears

If to earn the bread was easy
And have all needs met hasty

If there had been no end
And life be on earth all spent

If there were no life in world next
And for my deeds were no count

If for love was no price to pay
For, every joy comes with a cry

If you could stop me die
And hold me to cheeks nigh

If you would with me play
In the gloomy grave as I lay

If I was certain of my fate
To get close to paradise’ gate

If there were none beside
But us in this world to reside

Had Lord not called
Mustafa, His Beloved

If that Beloved not lured
The two worlds to his beauty

Had sun and stars withstood
The light of his Prophethood

If any beside Him could defeat
In the race to the station of great

If I could write a word
To ignore him could I afford

If I could love him not
And I become naught

If my soul ever smiled
And his praise I failed

Sigh!
I would have loved him most
I would have loved you less
I would have loved others least
