I have heard much about Your Mercy

The poet appeals to his Lord, confident that even if he stumbles, the Most Merciful will always bestow His grace upon the sinners.

There is the sky,
But where are the clouds high?

Trials make me sigh,
When Your help is not nigh.

I have heard much,
Your Mercy is such:
No matter how many times,
My words I breach.
A believer’s heart,
You’ll never ditch.

Knot on knot,
Are tied on my heart
I tried and tried,
But failed, hurt and cried.

Untying the knot,
Is pains-wrought

Only days ten left, alas,
From month Ninth that passed.

Yet in my ear,
Comes a prayer dear
Uttered by the Leader
Of the Battle of Badr:

“O Allah, You’re Forgiving”,
Most Forgiving, living!

“And You love to forgive”,
You’re the Most Loving, never to leave.

“So forgive me!”,
A sinner am I indeed!
