Revamp school curriculum for relevance and let students focus on practical knowledge, not irrelevant subjects— demands Mujeeb Jaihoon
It is with great concern that I address the urgent need to revamp our school curriculum. Our children are currently burdened with an overload of irrelevant subjects that hold zero value for their future. As they struggle through the complexities of logarithms and theorem proofs that have long been established, we must acknowledge deep down that this knowledge will never truly benefit them. It will only be of use to a minuscule minority who choose to pursue careers in pure science. Is it fair to subject the vast majority to such torment for the sake of a few?
Instead, let us enable students to spend their precious time more efficiently on subjects that hold practical relevance for them. Why should they be forced to endure topics they will soon forget as they step out of the examination hall? We must recognize the importance of specialization in knowledge, and this should start well before the eleventh grade. Students should be taught subjects that will equip them with the necessary tools and skills for their future pursuits.
I implore the intervention of academicians to address this pressing issue. We need their expertise and guidance to redefine our educational system. Let us prioritize subjects that truly matter, enabling our children to acquire practical knowledge that will empower them in their personal and professional lives.
In emphasizing the significance of seeking knowledge, allow me to share the story of Prophet Adam, the first Man. It was through the divine gift of knowledge that he proved his superiority over the angels. This tale serves as a reminder that knowledge, when channeled correctly, is a powerful force that shapes our existence and drives progress.
Let us not hesitate to embrace change and ensure that our educational institutions provide our children with the tools they need to thrive. By democratizing knowledge specialization, we can pave the way for a brighter future for all.
